NIS follows professional project management principles in the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities in order to meet stakeholder needs and expectations for the project. We address project management from a technology-based approach which allows our staff to identify potential technical issues and suggest solutions.
NIS participates in the Project Management Institute (PMI) and has staff members that are certified Project Management Professionals (PMP). This participation allows us to learn the latest management techniques and best practices the industry has to offer. Participation in the PMI assures knowledge, skill, quality, and professionalism.

Step 1: Planning
- Gain understanding of technology needs
- Document current environment
Step 2: Design
- Formulate specifications
- Build consensus in stakeholders
- Provide feasibility analysis for recommended option(s)
Step 3: Procurement
- Formulate specifications into a set of mandatory and desirable requirements
- Assist in developing evaluation criteria and RFP documentation
- Distribute RFP
- Manage vendor questions and bidding conferences
- Analyze responses
- Assist in finalist selection
- Manage personal interview process
- Provide final recommendation for award
- Assist in negotiation of the vendor contract
Step 4: Implementation and Quality Assurance
- Develop a project plan
- Project manage installation process
- Perform coordination meetings to stay on schedule and within budget
- NIS monitors the progress of the vendor
- A punch list matrix is developed and tracked
