PROJECT OVERVIEW

NIS assisted Jefferson County, Oregon with the design and specifications of telecommunication services for their offices and new jail. We assessed the County’s technology needs and designed a converged voice and data network, and supported the County by defining options and providing cost estimates for the infrastructure and equipment. NIS also provided project management of the equipment and systems installation.

NIS worked with the County on the procurement process for the required wiring infrastructure and communications equipment, including development of the specifications and RFP and evaluation of the vendor responses.

NIS was also responsible for designing and procuring the equipment and implementing a wide-area network (WAN) for the County to provide data networking for all County locations within the Madras city limits. The WAN supports both voice and data communication between all of the County facilities.

As part of this project, NIS designed the Ethernet connectivity and configured, installed, and tested the Ethernet switches. NIS also designed IP/WAN routing and security and configured, installed, and tested Internet and private WAN routers and an Internet firewall for the County.
